Orlando Crawl Space Inspection, here is what you need to know, VERY IMPORTANT!

Orlando crawlspace robot inspection

So, what exactly is a Crawl Space Inspection and why is i-Inspect so different?

An Orlando crawl space inspection, inspects the unoccupied, unfinished, narrow space within a building, between the ground and the ground and the living area above. Either conditioned living space or unconditioned.

The name comes from the fact that the head clearance is so small, a person could only access the area   crawling…or with specialized equipment, such as an expensive robot!

Who offers crawl space inspections with a robot?

Kevin Bressman offers one of the very few Robot Crawl space Inspection services throughout Orlando and all of Central Florida in general.

Inspecting a crawl space is difficult at best, but when you have a state-of-the-art robot, you stand above the crowd. It’s critical to see all the structural and enclosed areas of a crawl space to know for sure, what, if any, the issues are.

What makes a robot so special?

It is so important because the condition of the home’s crawl space effects your family’s health, the possible structural integrity of the building, energy factors and so much more.

A robot can access low clearance areas, like no normal size person could, that can reveal damages from any number of sources;

  • Rodent damage and infestation
  • Water and moisture intrusion
  • Fungus and mold colonies
  • Leaking sewer and water supply systems, and more.

Another valuable aspect to having and using a robot is, you can tell if there is damaged or missing insulation, lack of proper ventilation, if there poor drainage conditions, flooding, termite, or maybe other Wood Destroying Organisms (WDO). It’s common to find structural damage such as rotten wood and structural members, etc.

The crawl space’s functions include providing access to repair plumbing, electrical wiring, and heating and cooling systems without the need for excavation. Building insulation can also be installed in a crawl space. The crawl space can provide a protective buffer between the damp ground and the wooden parts of a home and, with adequate sealing, help with radon mitigation. Crawl spaces are also sometimes used for storage of items such as canned goods that are not particularly susceptible to destruction by mildew or unstable temperatures.

Remember, older homes often have remnants of chlordane. A highly toxic, man made chemical. Chlordane affects mainly the nervous system and liver in people and animals. It is a thick, amber-colored liquid pesticide. It was used in the United States from 1948 to 1988 on crops, lawns, gardens, and homes, and to control termites and soil insects. However, the EPA banned all uses of chlordane in 1988 due to concerns about its harm to human health and the environment.

Here is a link for information on the hazards to humans if you happen access a crawlspace and get it on yourself or you breathe the material while you’re in a crawlspace. You also may take the chemical home to your family. We recommend ”NOT” crawling in the material ever, and if possible, call us and we’ll do the Orlando crawlspace inspection for your client!
